We are a quick-fix society. Stephen Covey talks a lot about that in his 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and how that is a big roadblock to change. Unfortunately people do not like to hear that, and since it is a profitable business practice to tell people what they want to hear, most self-help books, courses, and seminars sell the quick-fix. The titles of books and their introductions constantly suggest, or even explicitly promote, a complete life overhaul virtually overnight. But it does not work like that, and the problem comes up when people start believing that changes in life are quick and easy. When people do not see the results the next day or two, they get discouraged and give up on the whole thing, labeling all of the self-development materials useless.
Changes that have a lasting, positive impact on your life are never quick and never easy – they take a lot of time and a lot of energy and dedication. Beliefs form a driving force in our lives, and they are the hardest thing to change. We form beliefs automatically and in many cases they do not serve us as well as they could. Unfortunately changing them is as not as easy as it was forming them in the first place. There are tools available, like affirmations and visualizations, that help the process along, but it is hardly a quick process.
So give yourself a reality check. Make sure you grasp the magnitude of the tasks before you. Do know that change is possible, but change is not an overnight thing.
Until next time,

Affirmations are great and they are the reason this website exists. The way they are phrased is very important, so let’s review some of the basics of affirmations.
Affirmations are supposed to be affirmative, positive statements, should have ‘the speaker’ included in them, and need to be stated in the present time. To expand a little bit on the basics, affirmations are supposed to talk of what you want instead of what you don’t want. So, if you are dealing with a health issue, the affirmation should mention something about “being in a healthy state and feeling great”, instead of “not feeling sick and tired anymore”. You sense the difference?
Whenever writing or saying an affirmation, make sure to feel included. I wrote a post a little while back where I shared a comical story of what could happen when you do not feel like part of whatever it is that you are affirming.
Finally, affirmations should be stated in the present tense. If you say “I will be healthy” you are sending your energy to the future. However, saying “I’m healthy” when you are not can feel awkward. So there is a little trick that I read somewhere for phrasing affirmations. Instead of saying “I am” start your affirmation with “I’m in the process of” – that puts the statement in the present and at the same time keeps it more true, since the end result can be ‘in development’. I personally really like that trick. Have fun with your affirmations!
Until Monday,

A new feature has been added to Affirmation Triggers home page, and it is the ability to send an affirmation to another person’s phone as a text message. All you need to know is the phone number of the person you want to send the affirmation to, and their service provider. If you don’t know the service provider, you can always send the same affirmation a couple of times and change the service provider from the drop-down-list – the right one will go through. Unless there are some network delays, a few seconds after you click ‘Send’, they will receive a text message from ‘The Universe’ on your behalf that will contain the affirmation.
Getting your own affirmations is great, but getting a good affirmation unexpectedly from someone else is surprising and very powerful. It is a fantastic way to offer some words of kindness or encouragement and to let the other person know that you are thinking of them. I hope you will enjoy this new additional way of using the website. This still needs to get polished, so if you have some tips or suggestions, please send them along. I’ll see what can be implemented.
Until next time,
V

Yesterday I talked about how the vast majority of our thoughts, over 95% of them to be more precise, go through our minds completely unnoticed and uncontrolled. But I also mentioned that this does not mean that we only have 5% control over our lives. The good thing is that a trained thought has much more energy behind it, and thus more power, than an untrained thought.
If you have ever played ‘tug o’ war’, then you’ll know that you get much more power when everyone pulls together. Trained thoughts have a similar effect. If you are not paying any attention to your conscious mind, then your consciousness is responsible for about 5% of your experiences. Under this arrangement, effectively all the thoughts, conscious and subconscious, are pulling at the rope at random.
Exercising trained thought is like having everyone pull on the rope at the same time from the conscious side, while having the subconscious thoughts pulling on the rope without any organization. There will still be a lot of experiences created by your subconscious mind, but suddenly you will find that you have more and more influence on your life as you put some power behind your conscious thoughts.
Until next time,

Yesterday I mentioned the idea of testing spirituality in a traditional scientific laboratory environment. The interesting realization that I came to is that when you test something spiritual, you are setting yourself up for failure. The reason? Your expectation.
Quite often when a person learns about a spiritual law, like the Law of Attraction, they want to believe it but have hard time doing so. In order to decide whether to believe it or not, they decide to test it for themselves. Now even though this person may be testing to prove that it works, he or she is really testing it because they do not believe that it works. Do you notice the difference?
I mentioned before that it’s thoughts and, more importantly, feelings that are attractive in their nature and that for me to attract something that I desire, I need to think and feel as if it is true. So if I knew that the Law of Attraction worked, I would not be compelled to test it. The very act of testing sends out a vibration of doubt. Now this doesn’t mean that the Law of Attraction won’t work – it will always work because it is the Law – but it will appear to not work by not bringing what you want into your experience.
Say you want to test the Law of Attraction by attracting a cup of coffee, and when you really break it down, essentially you are not sure whether or not you’ll be able to attract that cup of coffee. Not being sure is what will greatly increase the likelihood of you not attracting the cup of coffee into your life. The Law still works because it was acting on your doubt, but it seems that it doesn’t work for you. The biggest factor is how strong is the feeling of doubt. The stronger the feeling of doubt, the harder it will be to have the Law work to your advantage.
Your thoughts?
Until next time,

Yesterday I spoke about dwelling on a result versus knowing the result as your reality. Ever since I have watched The Secret, I have been very impressed by the concept of applying the Law of Attraction to parking spots. I have had mixed experiences with this. Even before watching The Secret, I always parked close to the doors at my gym. Somehow I just knew that that is where I would park. And the funny thing is, it’s like those spots were reserved for me. Someone would ALWAYS leave just before I got there, even during peak hours where most people parked a good distance away. But that was the only place where I was able to get a parking spot that I wanted consistently.
Pretty much in every other case, it wasn’t that simple. I would either have to circle the block several times, or wait for a while, or just park elsewhere entirely. A good friend of mine, on the other hand, has a parking spot reserved for him wherever he goes. It’s amazing! I was in a car several times when we’d be going for dinner or a movie and he would drive by an available parking spot, literally 10 meters away from the door, only to have the car right in front of the door drive out and leave.
Since the realization I spoke about yesterday, things have changed dramatically when it comes to parking. Now I have been able to manifest a parking spot right in front of the doors several times. The big difference is that now I simply know where I am going to park. Before, though, I kept picturing the car leaving and in reality only hoping that the parking spot would be available. And on a deeper level, I was worried that the parking spot would not be there. No wonder I had some trouble with manifesting what I wanted! Now though, I know how to do it the right way.
Am I the only one who thinks this is really cool?
Until next time,
V

Today I would like to share another visualization with you that I took from one of Tony Robbins’ tape programs. It is a visualization that should be done at the beginning of your day since it is supposed to build the day to come. Here is what you do:
Picture yourself at the end of the day, and see yourself looking back at the entire day that just ‘passed’. Look back at the meetings that you have had during that day with the desired outcome. Reflect back on the calls that you made and the responses of the people on the other end of the line. Think back on the family dinner and the warm, loving, invigorating conversations that occurred. Reflect back on all the tasks that you finished during the day and all the things that you accomplished. Pretty much look at all the areas of your day as already complete with the desired outcome.
When you are finished remembering your day, come back to the present moment and feel excited about the day you are about to live. Make it your intention to build your day in your reality much like you just did in your mind. At this point you should be pretty energized to live your day to the fullest! Repeat the next morning!
Until next time,
V

Yesterday I talked about hope and expectation and about how if we really want to achieve the things we want, we need to transcend the feeling of hope and move to a place of expectation. How do we do that? I think everyone’s journey will be somewhat different, but what worked for me was to look back on my short life and find a lot of examples of true belief and expectation coming to fruition. Another thing that helped was looking at some things that I did not yet achieve and realizing that the expectation was really not there – that it was a feeling of hope that I was nurturing in reality.
That recognition helped me a great deal with internalizing the understanding of this Universal Principle. This week in my Science of Mind class we talked about ‘faith’ and the different aspects of ‘faith’. We did not speak of ‘faith’ as a religious term, but rather as a term for ‘expectation’. While I can talk about this very concept for a long time, it can be summarized very quickly. I like to think of ‘faith’ is a knowing that when my thoughts are in harmony with my feelings, the results automatically come to fruition; every time, no exceptions. Does that make sense?
So take a look at your life, results, hopes, and expectations. I’d love to know what you discover through that exploration.
Until Monday,
V

It dawned on me recently that pretty much everyone hopes that they will attain certain results, but very few people actually expect to do it. And in my opinion, while hope is much better than the state of, say, depression or despair, it is not enough to get what you truly want in life. That is where you need to come to a place of expectation.
Tony Robbins spoke about an interesting experiment of hope vs expectation. People were asked to think of something that they really want to have or experience. When they were asked to hope that it will happen, they described their inner feeling as being passive, seeing a possibility of both, the success and failure, and described the mental images as primarily black and white. When the same people were asked to expect, on the other hand, they described seeing themselves as more proactive, saw a successful outcome, and described their mental imagery is being primarily in colour. Try this for yourself, and tell me about the differences you experience between hope and expectation.
If you think about it, since we live in a creative Universe that responds to thought and feeling, a feeling of hope is rather wishy-washy. You hope when you are not certain, but when you are certain, you expect! You don’t just hope, you expect to step onto a solid floor when you get up in the morning. You need to get to the same place of expectation when it comes to everything else that you want to achieve and experience in life, but more on that later.
Until next time,
V

This week I want to continue with the success/money theme, but bring the topic down to earth and hopefully get you to think about some application. And I will start the week off by sharing with you a visualization that I go through on the regular basis, which I call ‘The Ideal Life’. It is one of my favourite visualizations and I do it when I go to bed. I know that some do not recommend activating your brain before sleep, but it seems to work for me. In any case, try it out whenever you feel like it and stick to what works for you.
So, this is what I do…I start with myself and spiral out to my surroundings. The first thing I visualize is how I want to feel and respond to different situations when living my ideal life. Things like ‘calm’ and ‘in control of my emotional state’ quickly come to mind. Then I picture my body as I want it to be – healthy, fit, flexible, at 175lb. Then I move on to the clothes that I wear throughout the year – I picture the way I want to dress. Whenever I focus a lot on the ‘ideal wardrobe’, I tend to get rid of a few things the next day and get one or two items that fit the picture. Once I am done with the ’self’, I move on to more external things.
I picture the different relationships in my life – existing and otherwise – and how they are developing. I picture my bedroom, my home office, my house with surroundings. I picture my workplace and the employees. I picture my car. I visualize going through the day – waking up, doing yoga, getting dressed, going to work, coming home, etc, etc. I picture other things that I am doing, like travel, skydiving, skiing, etc. I imagine the different situations that I want to find myself in, like going to a chalet by some hot springs in the winter with close friends or family. I look at the different aspects of my ideal life and at times give more attention to some parts than others.
Since I do it as I am going to bed, I rarely get through the entire thing, so sometimes I will start at another point – not my inner self. I truly enjoy this exercise and hopefully you will as well. I would love to hear you feedback and experience with this visualization.
Until next time,
V
