Using Spiritual Tools For Financial Gain

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

There seems to be a lot of stigma associated with using spiritual tools and practices for financial gain. Very often I meet people who view the idea of having money, especially an abundance of money, as a very negative thing. And the funny thing is, these very same people seem to bitch and complain about not having enough money to get the house or the car they want, go on vacation, or invest into their future.

These spiritual people have no problem justifying loving relationships, a great connection with their spiritual side, learning and expansion, and many other things, but as soon as it comes to money, the guillotine drops. Suddenly this is an evil misuse of spiritual tools. This is madness! This is insanity!

Money is a tool that facilitates exchange of value. That is it! It can be used for good things or it can be used for bad things – it all depends on the user of this tool. Much like if you have a garage full of construction tools, you can use them to build a house or to destroy one. The tool itself is innocent and has no say in how it is used.

I have just decided that I will spend the next week writing about the subject of money, so tune in! Tomorrow is the time for another awesome Spiritual Mind Treatment.

Until next time,

Do One Thing, But Do It Well!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Last couple of days I was writing about pursuing your passion and going after what you want. If you are anything like me, when you decide to make that change and go after your dreams (or maybe even prior to that), you will start wondering ‘how’ to do it. I did the most obvious thing to me at the time – I turned to self-development materials. I found so much useful information, that, to be honest, I had choice paralysis.

There were so many great tips and strategies that I wanted to do all of them, but ended up not following any. Then it dawned on me that I did not need to use all of the presented strategies to move forward. I just needed to stick religiously to one strategy. Which strategy? Pick your favourite! There are so many available, that you should not be lacking any options. Tony Robbins, Stephen Covey, James Arthur Ray, and Jack Canfield offer fantastic tools, just to name a few of the authors.

The discussion of different strategies is beyond the scope of this post, but I will talk about some of them in the time to come. Today I just want to get a simple concept across – pick one strategy and stick to it until you perfect it and turn it into a habit.

Until next time,

Going After What You Want

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Yesterday I wrote a post on how most people do what they know they can do or what they think they can do, but very few do what they actually want to do. Even if you know what it is that you want to do, and enough people do, it can be a daunting experience to get started. Today I want to make a suggestion about how to start moving in the direction that you want to go by overcoming one of the monstrous hurdles that you will undoubtedly face.

One of the biggest challenges that one will have to get around when moving in the desired direction is the magnitude of their idea. Maybe your idea is to save the planet from pollution, or to create an energy-independent society, or maybe it is to help overhaul the political system so that it works. Maybe it is to change the dysfunctional medical system, or the broken educational system, or it could be a hundred other things. The point I am trying to make is that all of the above are noble causes that everyone can benefit from, but they are so large in their scope, and so intimidating, that it is hard to figure out where to even start, and even more importantly, we start to question whether we can even make a difference as an individual.

One of the ways to deal with this challenge is to narrow down the scope of what you want to pursue so that it becomes manageable and easier to wrap your head around. For example, if your passion is with moving towards energy-independence, maybe you can start a company that installs geothermal heating/cooling systems in homes or go work for a company that installs solar panels on roofs. You are not solving the energy issue at hand, but you are working towards a desirable objective by taking care of one piece of the puzzle, and when it is appropriate you can put another piece of the puzzle in place.

Hopefully this will get some of you motivated to go after what you want!

Until next time,

Pursuing Your Passion

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Are you doing what you really want? Most people’s answer is ‘No!’ and is followed by a whole bunch of reasons (read: excuses) for why that is the case.

Bob Proctor said in one of his seminars that there are things that people know how to do, things that people think they can do, and things that people want to do. The vast majority of the population shifts between doing the things they know how to do and things they think they can do. People do what they know how to do, but it is not fulfilling and is not giving them the results they are after. So they get motivated and shoot for what they think they can do. But that is a somewhat challenging and is a bit of a stretch, and since it is not what they want to do, there is no passion there and no energy to break through the barriers, so they go back to what they know how to do. Then the cycle repeats again.

If you go for what you want to do, you will have the passion at your back and the energy to face the challenges and the roadblocks that come up. It’s like that saying about how to break through the fear of failure – you need a goal that is worth failing for. What a profound statement! One of the things that can help you with doing what you want to do are affirmations. If you do not know what it even is that you want to do, you can write a few affirmations around that; if you already know what you want to do but are afraid to take action, you can structure your affirmations around that. In the month that I have started to talk to everyone about Affirmation Triggers, I have had two people share their carrier related stories with me of getting the job in the field that they really wanted to work in that they attributed to using Affirmation Triggers.

Are you up to the challenge of doing what you want?

Spiritual Mind Treatment (2009.12.11)

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Friday is here, so you get to enjoy another Spiritual Mind Treatment. The purpose of this Treatment is to become more aware of how thought is creative. As always, take these words as your own if you choose…

I know that everything is Energy and that everything is fundamentally made of the same stuff. This Energy manifests in the physical realm in many ways resulting in the seen and the unseen around me with the distinguishing factor being Its frequency of vibration. I know that every thought affects this Energy and shifts Its vibrational frequency, which produces the result that reflects the original thought. I know this mechanism to be the Creative Process of the Universe.

I know, since Energy is all there is and since Energy cannot be created or destroyed, that my mind and my body are this very Energy, everything around me is this very Energy, and all the things I seek are also this very Energy. I understand that my current life and present circumstances are the direct result of my thinking and that as I change my thinking, I change my life according to the strict Law of the Creative Process.

Knowing that thought is creative, I am creating an more expanded, more aware consciousness and develop a deeper appreciation for the Law. In this very moment, which is the only moment that exists, I know that all my thoughts create a corresponding result in my experience and my environment – I allow this idea take root in the fertile soil of my deep subconscious.

In this moment I am very grateful for my understanding of the Law and for my recognition and appreciation of Its power in my life. I am deeply thankful to be alive right now and to know that I can utilize the Law to get closer to my ultimate potential. I love life and enjoy its every moment.

So now I release my words of Truth and turn them over to the Universe and to the Law. I am open and receptive to the positive flow of energy through and around me and know that my intention is already in the process of becoming – the vibrational frequency is already shifting to accommodate my expanding consciousness and the creative power of my thoughts. And as with everything else that is done in Truth, it is already done in harmony! And so it is!

To Specialize Or Not To Specialize?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

When you specialize in a given subject or area, you learn more and more about less and less…until you know everything there is to know about nothing at all. I personally heard this concept first in my Introduction to Engineering class several years back, but have since heard this idea numerous times from different people. And this is something that I struggle with – is focus and specialization a good thing? And there are a couple of ways that I look at it.

The first way is a more traditional North American way. Our society is built on specialization where you become an expert in a very small, narrow field and do your job very, very well. In the process, however, you often neglect all other areas of knowledge. I have observed several situations where people had hard time communicating because they had very little common knowledge and interests, since they specialized in completely different areas. And I have also observed people in the same industry, be it law, engineering, medicine, or something else, being able to talk for hours about their field.

On the other side, I have witnessed situations where people had more of a superficial, but wide knowledge. This is common with people like my parents, who, in their case, were educated in Ukraine. There the scope of learning was much wider and so students were exposed to a lot more areas and a lot more different information. This way, there are no problems in communications even if people’s main focus was in a different field. There is still enough common ground there to create a fun, engaging conversation. Here I am talking about being a well-rounded person.

I can see that both approaches have their benefits. People with specialized knowledge can be very desirable and highly paid in their field. Well-rounded individuals are often much better suited for all the different kinds of environments and situations, and are more likely to find a way to apply themselves in most circumstances. I have hard time picking the best approach. I am currently trying to be a bit of both, where I study a couple of fields in great depth, yet make sure to explore unrelated fields as well for general mental development.

What do you think?

It All Starts With A Thought

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

New-Age spiritual ideas and texts teach us that all thought is creative, and that thought is the starting point. Unless you have been studying this material for some time, this may sound foreign to you, but in this post I will try to prove to you that this is a self-evident truth.

Whether we are talking about creating an entirely new product or service to revolutionize the way we do things, or about going out there and getting an existing item from a store, or anything in between, your thought is the starting point. Take any example out of your life – whatever it is – and analyze it for a couple of minutes, and you’ll see that this principle hold true in each and every case.

If you want to have dinner, it starts with a thought, “Hey, I’m feeling kind of hungry, so I should make dinner”. From there you go on to decide whether you are going to cook or eat out. At that point you follow your plan to get food, but it started with a thought. If you are starting a business, it started with a thought that went something like this, “I have this great skill/product/idea/whatever and I think others will benefit from it, and I’ll probably make money in the process”. Then you go on to research your idea and start a business, but, again, it started with a thought. If you are creating a painting, it started with a thought of creating that painting. Am I making any sense?

It does not matter what your beliefs are when it comes to spirituality, but I think that you’ll agree that all of the things in your life started with a thought. Can you find an exception?

Expand Your Consciousness To Create More

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Everything is already here – you just may not be aware of it. That is a pretty bold statement, but if you think about it for just a sec, you’ll realize that it is incredibly accurate.

We truly did not create anything – all we did was re-arrange existing building blocks to make new things. If you have every played LEGO, you’ll know that you can take apart one puzzle and, using the exact same pieces, turn it into something entirely different. Same idea applies to all things in life. We take the ore out of the earth, process it, turn it into metals, and then we make things out of those metals. We take the crude oil out of the earth, process it, and get gasoline to power our cars. We cut the trees down and turn them into paper. We learned how to harness and use the electric power, so now we can use it for our benefit. You get the idea – every thing that we use right now, we took out of our environment and changed its chemical or physical properties to turn into something more usable for us. The thing that did change was our consciousness – our awareness.

Electricity was there from day one – we just did not know how what it was or how to use it. It was only after we learned how it works, how to generate it, how to transport it that it became part of our experience. And it was through our expanded awareness, our learning, our growing consciousness, if you will, that we got to that point. You can think of your consciousness as a light bulb of, say, 15 Watts, and you can think of a bulb socket as the creative medium of the Universe. When you plug a 15 Watt light bulb into the socket, you get a certain amount of light. But if you expand your consciousness and make it equivalent to, say, a 60 Watt bulb, and plug it into the very same socket (given that the setup is sufficient to accommodate it), it will produce that much more light, or results. The creative medium of the Universe is a socket with an ability to power a light bulb of unlimited wattage, and all you need to do is plug in a more powerful idea to get more powerful results.

You get a more powerful idea by expanding your mind, learning new things, developing your thinking, and allowing your awareness to grow. It is something that all of us should be working on in order to create a more powerful light bulb.

Until next time,

Expanding Universe – Expanding Consciousness

Monday, December 7th, 2009

I have had a wacky thought the other day and thought that I would share it with you to get some feedback. Many of you have probably heard that the universe that we live in is infinite and it is expanding. This is not even something metaphysical – it comes from science itself. Wikipedia article says that the universe is going through an “intrinsic expansion – that is, it is defined by the relative separation of parts of the universe and not by motion “outward” into preexisting space. (In other words, the universe is not expanding “into” anything outside of itself).” Fascinating!

This universe that is expanding is the physical universe, not the Universe that I usually talk about that is another term for a Divine Consciousness and the place of all creation and all things, which includes the physical universe. So what is the cause behind this expansion? From what I am learning about the Universe, behind all creation there is a corresponding thought. So if the physical universe is expanding, then there must be a creative thought causing this expansion.

Now it does not seem logical to me to assume that it is us, as in the ‘human race’, that is thinking about the expanding universe and causing it to do so. It makes more sense to me if the consciousness behind this expansion is the same Universal Consciousness that created the universe that we are all a part of. And what I wonder – and this is the wacky thought – if the universe is expanding because Consciousness is expanding? After all, isn’t Consciousness always growing and expanding? So does it not make sense for the physical universe to follow?

Spiritual Mind Treatment (2009.12.04)

Friday, December 4th, 2009

It is Friday, and you know what that means! I am thoroughly enjoying creating these Treatments based on the main blog theme of the week. This week it is about allowing the Universe to do It’s thing and letting the Energy flow freely through you. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

I know that there is only one Source of everything and I choose to call this one Source, Divine Intelligence. I also know that this Divine Intelligence manifests as Energy vibrating at different frequencies, which I see as physical form. I feel at the core of my being that this perfect Divine Intelligence and Energy is equally distributed everywhere and it is everything – my body, the chair I am sitting in, the tree outside my window, the lake, the mountains, the sky, the stars, and everything else that is visible and invisible.

I know that I am one with this perfect Divine Power and I recognize It in me. I am subject to the Divine Creative Law which is a perfect creative mirror that takes any thought and reflects it into the physical realm, without judging or having an ability to alter or reject the thought. This Law is a perfect servant of the Divine Intelligence and thus every other entity with an ability to think, including me. I know that through my recognition and appreciation of this Divine Intelligence, I allow it to fully express Itself in my life and blossom. And so right now I allow it to work through me and for me!

In this very moment, which is the only moment in existence, I create the image for the Law to reflect into my physical experience. In this perfect moment I let go of all my limiting beliefs and ideas that strangle my potential and realize that this Divine Power, and the Law that It is subject to, has only one answer, and that answer is ‘YES!’. I release and I let go of my expectations of how the Universe is supposed to respond, and instead, I let this Divinity manifest as It chooses, since I know the results are perfect! I open up and allow the Divine Energy to flow freely through me and allow for the greatest human expression and experience of Love, Peace, and Abundance. In this moment I know that everything is possible and by allowing this perfect Divine Energy to flow freely through me, I tap into the all-knowledge of the Universal Intelligence. I allow ideas to come to me freely and I draw on this Energy to allow me to follow through and take appropriate action in order to tap my potential. I pay attention to the many examples of how the Universe works for me and recognize the smallest examples of Its actions and manifestations. I am thankful for all the manifestations of the Universe in my life, no matter how large or small.

I am deeply grateful for my expanding awareness and growth and understanding of these glorious eternal Principles and I feel blessed for having such a magnificent Divine Power on my side. I am thankful for knowing that I have the ability to use it to create great things for my well-being as well as for the well-being of those around me, and the world as a whole. I am thankful to have the Universe on my side, because I know that with an Ally like this, everything is possible!

Right now, with sincere gratitude and overflowing appreciation, I let go of my image and shine it upon the Mirror to allow it to manifest in my life. I am open to the nudges and impulses from the Universal Intelligence that prompt me to take appropriate action and I know that it is already done. I know that everything I seek is already here because that is the fundamental Law of this glorious Universe. I let my Light shine, I let the Energy flow, and I know that it is all done in harmony, and so it is!

Until Monday,

V
