The Affirmation Triggers Story
If you, like me, have spent any time at with self-development materials, you must have heard about affirmations - those carefully crafted statements that are used to improve your mental attitude and, consequently, your life.
You have probably heard that affirmations are supposed to be positive, stated in the present tense, specific, and personal.
There are a few strategies for using affirmations. Some teach that you are supposed to say them to yourself out loud in front of a mirror a bunch of times. Others teach that you are supposed to write them down in your own hand writing as many times during the day as you can. And then others teach that you are supposed to write them down on a card and carry that card with you everywhere and read it as often as possible.
Whatever the strategy, you are supposed to constantly remind yourself of your affirmation(s). Use whatever strategy works for you. The strategy that was most useful to me was the latter one - writing the affirmation down on the card and reading it throughout the day. The only challenge was remembering to write the affirmations down every day (initially I came up with 20 different ones), then remembering to bring the card with you, and then finally to actually read it. But I did notice how whenever I read the affirmation it generated a very positive vibe inside. Then I had an idea...
I practically always have my phone on me and check it regularly. So I thought, "why not have affirmations emailed to me regularly?". So I looked on-line for a solution. The closest I got was a couple of websites that offered affirmations and inspirational stories emailed daily. So I put together a small program that randomly chose one of the affirmations that I came up with and emailed it to me every 10 minutes during the day.
I got psyched every time an email came. I was curious to open it, since I did not know which affirmation was in the email. And every time I read it, I felt really positive and empowered. Since I always had my phone on me, I was reminded of my affirmations regularly throughout the day. I had such a great experience with this, that I thought to make it available to others.
The result is Affirmation Triggers. It's free, so just create an account, come up with whatever affirmations you want, set up when and how often you want them sent to you, and enjoy!
Update: I did not want to eliminate all the people who did not have smart phones, so now you can get your affirmaitons sent to you via a text message!
